The Greatest Moment Of My Life! 16 hrs 9 min 0 sec
![]() Hi,
My name is Carrie Swidecki. On July 27-28, 2011 I set the new Guinness Book of World Record for the longest Marathon on a Dance/Rhythm game using Dance Dance Revolution Supernova 2 arcade machine. I lasted 16 hours 9 minutes 0 seconds, breaking the previous record of 13 hours 33 minutes 56 seconds. I did my Guinness attempt, hoping to bring awareness to a fun way to exercise and fight Childhood Obesity in our school systems. I am a 35 year old 2nd grade teacher from Bakersfield, CA. Eleven years ago, when I was 210 pounds I came across a Dance Dance Revolution machine and instantly feel in love with it. Since then I have lost 75 pounds and use Dance Dance Revolution in my classroom for physical education. I made my record breaking attempt at the Childhood Obesity Prevention Summit in Charleston, West Virginia. It coincide with the West Virginia Pubic School Dance Dance Revolution Championships, which students competed for scholarships. I was sponsored by Konami to make my record breaking attempt there. I want to thank Konami for inviting me out to Charleston. I love sharing my story and it made me push myself beyond what I would have done in an arcade. Breaking the World Record is unbelievable! Eleven years ago, when I was 210 pounds, I just wanted to get good enough to place in local tournaments. In 2009, after 9 years of playing I finally took 3rd place on Dance Dance Revolution Extreme and went to my first DDR US Championship Qualifying Round. Just when I was about to retire, I received an email asking for demonstrators for the DDR Launch Party. I almost pressed delete, I didn't think I had a chance. I'm not your typical DDR player, I am in my 30s, I'm female, and had never won a major championship. Little did I know, that responding to an email would bring me to the greatest moment of my life. Not only did I get to demonstrate, but I finally won a championship. I set a new World Record in Dance Dance Revolution! It's like a modern day fairy tale and best of all, it's mine. Never give up on your dreams and your quest to live a healthy lifestyle!! Carrie Swidecki News Articles Relating To My Attempt

I want to thank Konami for inviting me to make my record breaking 2011 Guinness World Record attempt at the Childhood Obesity Prevention Summit in Charleston, West Virginia on July 27, 2011. It coincide with the West Virginia Public School Dance Dance Revolution Championships. Being once 210 pounds, I did my Guinness attempt to bring awareness to a fun way to exercise in the school system. It was the perfect setting to make my record breaking attempt. Being sponsored by Konami, the company who created Dance Dance Revolution that helped me lose 75 pounds, made it extra special. Seeing the excitement in the children and being surrounded by a very supportive crowd made me push myself beyond the time I had done in the past. I broke the record for Marathon play on Dance Dance Revolution with a time of 16 hrs 9 min 0 sec.
Thank you Konami!! Carrie Swidecki |
