The 1st time I played Dance Central 2 at E3 2011, I fell in love with it!
24 hrs 2 min 44 sec
On June 16-17, 2012, I broke the Guinness Book of World Records for the Longest Marathon on a Motion Sensing Dance Game using Dance Central 2 on the Xbox Kinect! I set a new world record in my hometown, Bakersfield, CA at Otto's Video Games and More with a time of 24 hours 2 minutes 44 seconds! The last 12 years has been an incredible journey. In the summer of 2000, I fell in love with Dance Dance Revolution. The arcade community gave me something to aspire to.
I dreamed of one day, being able to play in local tournaments and hoped I could take 3rd place. Little did I know that my passion for DDR, would change my life. While chasing a dream, I lost 75 pounds, aged in the process, and became a 2 time World Record Holder!! Never give up on your DREAMS!
History will be made on June 16, 2012!

On June 16, I will attempt to set the Guinness Book of World Records for the Longest Marathon on a Motion Sensing Dance Game using Dance Central 2 on the Xbox 360 and Kinect by dancing over 20 hours at Otto's Video Games and More in Bakersfield, CA. The current record is set at 16 hours 21 minutes 44 seconds. To my understanding, becoming the only person to both have broke the Dance Dance Revolution and Dance Central 2 World Record for Marathon play, as well as the only female. Previously I set the World Record for the Longest Marathon on a Dance Rhythm Game using Dance Dance Revolution Supernova 2 in July 2011 with a time of 16 hours and 9 minutes!
When you set a Guinness World Record, it is a life changing experience. I went from being obese to being a World Record Holder. It took me 11 years, losing 75 pounds, and a dream to achieve it. 12 years ago, I was 210 pounds, plus size 18-20, and living my life in the past. Within 6 years after graduating from high school, I went from being a 120 pound athlete to gaining 90 pounds and being obese. I discovered exergaming and it changed my life. Overtime,I have broke the odds of being a female gamer, obese, and aging in the process to set a World Record. The last 2 years I have written 4 grants through Donorschoose.org getting video game equipment that promotes fitness as a way to help fight childhood obesity in my classroom. In July 2011, I was invited to make my record setting Guinness Attempt at the US Obesity Prevention Summit in Charleston, West Virginia to bring awareness at a National Level.
My life has come to a complete circle. Through all of this, I have never forgot the obstacles I have overcome and endured from being obese. While training for this year's Guinness event I took the Presidential Challenge for physical fitness which now includes Video Games that promote being active. Getting ready for this year's Guinness attempt, I ran numerous 5k races, my 1st full marathon, and my 1st out 4 half marathons. In January 2012, I won the Inspired By You: Inspirational Athlete Contest at Bauerfeind Performance Center. In January 2012, I was also featured as gamer of the week for GamerFitNation.com where and gaming and health come together. On June 15, 2012 I became the newest Nuun Ambassador for nuun.com. Nuun is the healthy side of hydration and electrolyetes for athletes! I have made the transition from being a gamer to being an endurance athlete. Through all of this, I feel as if I am just getting started as what I can achieve as an endurance athlete who platform is on video games. Video games have transformed my life and in the process I found me. This is my 1st out 5 Guinness attempts I'll be doing between now and July 2013. By doing this year's Guinness attempt, I hope to inspire and highlight a fun and exciting way to fight obesity for all ages!
12 years ago, I never imagined I would be a World Record Holder, an advocate to fight childhood obesity, win an inspirational athlete contest, or chosen to be a Nuun Ambassador as an athlete . It's all so surreal, but it shows that when you find something you love and stick with it, you can achieve anything in this world! For as long as my body allows me, I'll keep attempting to break endurance World Records to inspire others to overcome obesity!
Sponsors for Dance Central 2 Guinness Attempt
I chose to make my historical Guinness attempt in my hometown Bakersfield, CA, because I wanted to bring awareness to a modern way to fight obesity for all ages. In the Central Valley where I live, 1 out 3 people are considered obese and locally 30% of children are considered obese. I'm hoping to make an impact on my local community by highlighting an incredible fun way to stay fit. This year's Guinness attempt has become a community event and without the help of several volunteers, friends, family, several local business, and especially Otto's Video Games and More there would not be a Guinness attempt. So Thank you for helping me highlight a fun way to fight obesity and making my dream to be a 2 time Guinness World Record Holder hopefully come true!!!
